Meet our Guides

Meet the Heart of Your Safari: Our Exceptional Guides

Your guide on safari is key—they need to be knowledgeable, attentive, thoughtful, and, above all, bring a sense of humour and fun.

This is especially true on a mobile safari, where you spend many hours together in the bush. That’s why we select our guides with great care, assembling a team we believe is second to none.

While all our guides are exceptional all-rounders, each brings their own unique expertise, ensuring your safari is not only seamless but also truly memorable.

Paul Gaesengwe

Paul Gaesengwe

Why this job?

I grew up in a rural area where wildlife was part of everyday life, with animals often right on our doorstep.

My grandfather, a traditional doctor, played a significant role in shaping my passion for the natural world. He would take us along on his daily activities, sharing his knowledge and deep respect for nature—experiences that continue to inspire me today.

Bush moment

While on safari in the Linyanti, we were quietly watching a herd of buffalo when a deep lion’s roar echoed through the bush. Instantly, everything changed. We left the buffalo and followed the sound, arriving just in time to witness an incredible scene unfold.

A dominant male lion was locked in a fierce battle against three intruders—and remarkably, he held his ground, fighting them off single-handedly. We watched, transfixed, for over an hour as the drama played out in front of us.

It was one of those rare, raw moments in the wild that you never forget—a truly once-in-a-lifetime experience.

Isaac Tapa

Isaac Tapa

Why this job?

I was born and raised in the eastern part of Botswana. Later in life I decided to relocate to Maun where I discovered a mouthwatering place which is home to the tourism industry and decided to unpack my bag and settle there.  I then fueled my passion by studying guiding at Career Dreams in 2006 and after graduating I joined the tourism industry which still to this day is not just a job but rather a career, a passion for me.  I love it because I meet different people from around the globe and interact with them whilst experiencing nature’s diversity… and the tranquility out there in the bush on safari never disappoints.

Bush moment

For me, nothing compares to the quiet magic of sitting around the fire beneath an endless canopy of stars. Out here, far from city lights, the night sky reveals billions of stars in breathtaking clarity.

It’s in these moments—sharing stories from my time in the bush with guests, listening to the sounds of the wild, and simply being present—that the true spirit of safari comes alive.

What our guests have to say
  • Isaac has this great quality of anticipating our needs in the bush whether it be from hearing all about a wonderful sighting to sitting in silence soaking up the wonders of safari
  • Isaac has an outgoing personality which is a joy to be around on safari
  • Isaac is a wealth of knowledge in the bush with a wonderful sense of humour

Bush moment

While on a morning game drive at Xini Lagoon, we came across a Kori Bustard striding confidently across the open grass. Suddenly, she lowered herself into the vegetation and seemed to vanish completely—an unusual and intriguing behaviour that immediately caught our attention.

Moments later, the reason became clear. A large raptor soared overhead, scanning the ground below in search of prey. The Kori Bustard remained perfectly still, relying on her camouflage. The eagle circled, then landed in a nearby tree, its long talons extended, convinced a meal was within reach.

As we watched, the details came into focus—the piercing yellow eyes, rich brown head and neck, and mottled white belly. There was no mistaking it: a Martial Eagle, one of the most powerful and formidable raptors in the region.

It was a truly magical encounter, a vivid reminder of the delicate balance and raw drama of life in the wild.
